Overview:
Twain-Tech Removal - This bug is adware. Comes as both a BHO and a toolbar. If you'd like to send them some love visit their site. Also read below and also send the software company who installed it on you some love as well. Free programs that are sponsored by ads are not truly free. If you want to profit from making software please go the 15 day trial route cause ads will only make people hate you.

Twain-Tech is installed on your computer as a module that comes with free software or content, when you downloaded it from the Internet. At that time, you accepted this Privacy Policy as part of the download process that you completed. It is our strict policy to distribute Twain-Tech only to users who have been given the opportunity to review and accept this privacy policy prior to the downloading of the TPS software.

This has a built in uninstaller:

start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Add/remove --> twain-tech

If that is either not present or not good enough for you I guess we can show you the HARD way to do it. I personally try to take the easy way out if there's an acceptable road to take.

Destroy Autorun:
Delete the following keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\xgn

Reboot your system then:

Make sure you click start --> Run and type in msconfig. Then select the startup tab. Any references to the processes below.

End Processes (may or may not exist):
preinsmt.exe
preinstt.exe
wsebate1.exe
biprep.exe
wast2.exe
xgn.exe

Unregister DLLs:
Each file is in several locations so you'll need to search for them and unregister + delete them in every location you find. These are found in quite a few locations so you'll have to search for them, unregister them and then delete them everywhere you find it running.

mxtarget.dll
twaintec.dll
wsem218.dll

Remove Directories:
They don't actually create their own directory. The run in oddball temp directories and the windows directory. This makes it harder.

Clean your Registry:

You should be back to normal IF this was your only problem. I suggest you post in our HJT forum since its not likely that this is your only bug. Read this first.
