Overview:
ErrorGuard is installed through ActiveX. They are spending a LOT of cash with pop up advertisement companies like Fastclick to get their software out to the masses. Once installed it scans your system for "errors" then in order to repair the errors it finds you have to register the application. This will set you back $29.95 which is NOT worth it for what little this program does. It has also been known to collect personal information about you and your browsing habits. We suggest you remove this application under all circumstances.

After the installation I found the following lines in Hijackthis:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ErrorGuard] C:\Program Files\ErrorGuard\ErrorGuard.Exe
O16 - DPF: {205FF73B-CA67-11D5-99DD-444553540006} (CInstall Class) - http://www.errorguard.com/installation/Install.cab

Under Add/Remove programs there is a listing called Error Guard which does a pretty good job of removing everything. The only thing I was able to find that still needs to be removed is the base directory which by default is Program Files\ErrorGuard

Errorguard.exe

Clean your Registry:

You should be back to normal IF this was your only problem. I suggest you post in our HJT forum since its not likely that this is your only bug. Read this first
