Spyware Stormer Removal

Overview:
Spyware Stormer is one of the biggest spenders in the pop up advertiser market. This software is installed through ActiveX. They use advertising techniques that are designed to take advantage of people who aren't as familiar with spyware. The rogue spyware list says this about it; "aggressive advertising (1, 2, 3, 4); drive-by-downloading; (1); variant of NoSpyX, SpyVest, SpywareCleaner, Spyware Wizard, & Spyware Slayer (1); Ad-aware knockoff " Stick with adaware and spybot folks! We found this to be one of our most requested items in the startup DB for the month of February and March so we decided to post a little bit of additional information to promote user awareness.

The following lines were adding to HJT upon installing this application:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Spyware Stormer] C:\Program Files\Spyware Stormer\SpywareStormer.Exe
O16 - DPF: {205FF73B-CA67-11D5-99DD-444553540000} (CInstall Class) - http://www.spywarestormer.com/files2/Install.cab

Removal:
Under Add/Remove programs you will find Spyware Stormer. The uninstaller seems to remove almost everything just fine. Program Files\Security iGuard was not even removed. Within that folder is the installer for this program so you'll want to remove this folder and the installer to prevent this from reinstalling at a later date.

End Process:
SpywareStormer.Exe
